How to use the APT meter
The purpose
The APT meter is designed to identify if ATP/ bugs are present in critical areas making it easier to implement and manage hygiene monitoring programme.
Where and When to use the ATP Meter
- On any floor, at any time, even on floors that may look very clean, still may have bugs present.
- On Dycem, before it has been cleaned, it should have a very high reading on the ATP meter. This is very good because if there was a low reading it would indicate that the contamination was in your critical areas, threatening product yields.
- On Dycem after cleaning- to check the efficiency of type of cleaning used.
Results
Contamination levels are measured in 3 categories:
- 0-150 = Pass
- 150-300= Caution
- 300+ =Fail
Result |
Pass |
Caution |
Fail |
|
< 150 |
151 – 299 |
> 300 |
If the ATP result of your critical area is 300+, it is recommended that you evaluate the cleaning schedule.
If Dycem is not currently installed in your critical area perhaps evaluating the effectiveness of Dycem’s contamination flooring and mats would be a beneficial step to take.
We have attached a Size guide of Dycem’s flooring and mats which will provide all the important information needed.
As an extra aid, you may want to invite your microbiologist to come in and carry out some specific testing as the ATP gives an indication only. |
