Cleanroom Basics
 |
What is a cleanroom?
A cleanroom is an enclosed space in which airborne particulates, contaminant and pollutants are kept within strict limits. Cleanrooms are 10,000 times cleaner than a hospital operating room and therefore require an extremely stringent approach to controlling possible contamination.
Where are cleanrooms needed?
Sectors of industry including electronic, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, aerospace, automotive medical, hospital, all of whom Dycem provide an exceptional service.
Particularly in biotechnology and medicine, clean rooms are used when it is necessary to ensure an environment is free of bacteria, viruses or other pathogens. |
How are cleanrooms kept contaminant free?
The air quality, temperature and humidity are highly regulated to protect sensitive equipment from contamination and personnel must wear “bunny suits”: special protective clothing made up of a unique non-linting, anti static fabric and worn over street clothes.
Further fundamental measures must be maintained to ensure clean rooms are kept contaminant free:
- Contaminants must not be introduced into the controlled environment from the outside.
- Contaminants must not be allowed to accumulate in the controlled environment.
- Existing contaminants must be eliminated to the greatest extent possible.
Dycem Contamination Control flooring is proven to be the most effective method of maintaining all areas in which the concentration of airborne and footborne particles must be controlled.
