Dycem Contamination Control is the Choice for MicronClean

A research study by Dr Caroline S Clibbon, Senior Microbiologist at GlaxoSmithKline shows that Dycem contamination control floor coverings and mats are over 99% effective in preventing contaminants from entering a critical area3. A representative from Micronclean said; “There are several areas where the Dycem Cleanzone still performs well after many years of continual use! Dycem flooring is extremely durable and we have found the quality of product and after sales service to be excellent. In our opinion there is no equivalent product that can match Dycem for performance and value for money.” Dycem plays a vital part of an integrated contamination control programme. All Dycem products contain an antimicrobial agent during the original manufacture stage. Dycem products are silicon free, Dop- free, non-outgassing and non-particulating. All products are simple to install, and remain effective for up to five years. Dycem are also included in Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and meets the requirements of all regulatory bodies including the FDA.

Nissin exhibited at Interphex Japan

Nissin, Dycem's distributor in Japan, recently exhibited at the Interphex show - the largest pharmaceutical industry event in Asia. The exhibition took place over two days from 2nd - 4th July 2008. The two day event attracted thousands of visitors who were predominantly from the Pharmaceutical industry. Some were Peel-off mat users and were impressed with the effectiveness of Dycem through Nissin's demonstrations. The style of the Dycem display and the position of the booth meant that Nissin were successful in generating a good level of interest. Nissin received an impressive 130 potential leads from the many serious industry professionals.

KWOK Foods and Dycem WORK together to beat contamination

KWOKS Food, a leading supplier of oriental food within the UK, as part of their continuous strategy to improve their brand, has begun to implement various new plans and policies to meet their high standards. Most recently Kwoks Foods reviewed their own policies and identified that their current contamination control policy would need to be tightened to ensure that the standards were met. As part of transformation, they have decided to install Dycem in all their critical areas in order to reduce contamination such as Listeria from entering their manufacturing process. In November 2007 the PPE standards were raised to a new benchmark within the chilled ready meals business. Due to this change KWOKS foods needed to ensure that they were fulfilling the requiring of these new standards, they have invested in a variety innovative products that will play a part in fighting contamination. Dycem High Performance Contamination Control Flooring will be used at entrances to their high care areas to improve access control to reduce the risk of foreign body ingress such as water from their manufacturing areas. The partnership we have with Dycem is invaluable as their products will play a vital part in achieving our goal in the fight against microbiological foreign body contamination.” In order to maintain the highest levels of cleanliness within food processing and preparation areas, it is essential to prevent the ingress of particles and micro-organisms, which exist in the surrounding environment. It is believed that 80% of contamination enters the critical areas through entrances and exits, mostly at or near floor level 1-2. Dycem polymeric flooring and mats have long been recognised as an effective route to preventing floor and wheel-borne contamination from entering critical environments. Silver is widely accepted as having broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity, Independent test have proved that BioMaster TD100 is effective in reducing the growth of gram positive and gram-negative bacteria by 99.9% over a 24-hour period and is effective mechanism of attracting, collecting and retaining foot and wheel borne microbial contamination which include 50 common organisms, as well as bacteria such as Aspergillus Nidulans, Aspergillus Amstelodmi, Aspergillus Niger (a black spot mould growth), Mucor Racemosus, Escherichia Coli, Trychophyton Mentagrophytes, Penicillium Chrysogenum, Myceliophthora Thermophila, Saccharomyces Cerevisiae and Algae.

Microbiologist Tim Sandle releases new Dycem report

Due to a high personnel throughput, the cleanroom changing facility stood at great risk of transferring contamination through regular disturbance in the air. Dycem CleanZone and WorkZone were fitted and sampled at varying times during the working day. The counts before and after the fitting of the polymeric flooring were compared using statistical testing.

The comparative results demonstrated a significant reduction of microbial counts on the footwear of staff moving between one cleanroom and another.
